Hi! I'm James.
I live in Flatbush, Brooklyn (on the edge of Ditmas Park, for those keeping score). In the past, I've written and edited independent magazines, produced direct mail advertising for a major clothing retailer, and spent time as a bartender, a short-order cook, and a buyer at a record store, back when music collections lived on shelves and not in clouds.
When I'm not working, you can find me in Prospect Park, running or cycling, in my kitchen, cooking or homebrewing, or in the living room, maybe building something.
Lately, I've been asking Is the Brooklyn Half on Sale?
I'd love to hear from you. Get in touch!
PROJECTS GO HERE.
I'm all over the internet. You can find me as @j_m_barnes on Twitter, Emergency Reports on Tumblr, and, once upon a time, I'd even update a different blog.
Of course, on Facebookand LinkedIn and all those other places you'd expect.
I'm also, like seemingly everyone, working through new lessons as they get posted at Codecademy, and finding those a nice diversion. (I mucked about at Treehouse, too.)
I used to run a blog about bike commuting in New York City called One Less Jerk but abandoned it when the other primary Jerk moved away.
The most direct way to get in touch is to email me: james@jmbarnes.com, or through one of the other inboxes linked herein.
